Am 30. Mai 1989 wurde in Essen die Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Ruhr gegründet. Der Verein widmet sich der Förderung und Vermittlung zeitgenössischer Kunstmusik. In diesem Jahr wird die GNMR 35 Jahre alt – ein guter Zeitpunkt, um allen Unterstützer:innen und Wegbegleiter:innen zu danken und insbesondere gemeinsam die Neue Musik aus dem Ruhrgebiet zu feiern. Auf dem Programm stehen sowohl Werke von Gründungsmitgliedern der GNMR als auch zwei Uraufführungen von Komponist:innen der jüngeren Generation, die die Arbeit des Vereins in den letzten Jahren geprägt haben.
